Job Title: Rock Steady Boxing Certified Head Coach/Class Instructor

FLSA Status: Part-time

Reports to: Healthy Hearts & Active Lives Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Rock Steady Boxing-Certified Head Coach/Class Instructor is responsible for teaching Rock Steady Boxing classes. This program is designed to improve the quality of life for people with Parkinson's disease through a non-contact, boxing-based fitness curriculum.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have strong communication skills and an understanding of the benefits of exercise and Parkinson's disease.

  • Must have positive and caring attitude and be able to implement YMCA mission statement and character development philosophy into the program (i.e., caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility).
  • Provide a safe, nurturing and friendly environment for our membership. Aid each member in adjusting their exercise and assist each member according to their needs.
  • Part-time staff should work a minimum of three (3) hours per week on a consistent basis or instruct a class a minimum of twice a week on a consistent basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Serving the member is our first priority, the purpose of our work, and the key to our success!

  • Attend all scheduled training courses for certification to become a Rock Steady Head Coach
  • Must hold a NCCA-approved Fitness/Group Exercise professional license/certification or a degree in and Exercise Science -related field of study
  • Keep up to date with RBS certification requirements.
  • Be prepared for to teach and conduct group led exercises to those with Parkinson's.
  • Assist every member regardless of their level of skill/experience.
  • Promote YMCA core values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility. Lead by example.
  • Complete required staff certifications within first three months of employment.
  • Must be able to respond quickly in case of emergency situations.
