The Branch Executive Director of the Old Colony Y – Middleboro Branch is responsible for the overall fiscal management, program development and building maintenance of the Branch. The Branch Director is also responsible for marketing/development, personnel selection, training and supervision, and lay development within the guidelines of the mission and operating policy of the Old Colony YMCA. This position requires the ability to make decisions, communicate effectively through both oral and written presentation and provide direct hands-on support in program leadership, facility maintenance, etc., when needed. The Branch Executive Director will uphold the employee code of conduct and will ensure that all areas of the job responsibilities reflect the mission of the Old Colony Y, and the regulating agency. The Branch Executive Director will display and encourage the character traits of caring, responsibility, honesty and respect in the fulfillment of all job duties.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory and leadership experience
- Strong background in operations, budgeting, staff development, and community engagement
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
1. PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITY:
-Establishes annual departmental goals within context of agency goals and vision and ensure direct reports attain those goals
-Develops and recommends new programs, processes, partnerships, strategies, and approaches
-Builds key community relationships to collaborate and recruit for board development and annual campaign
-Organize and facilitate regular meetings with staff to ensure work plans are being adhered to or modified as needed, vision and goals are knows, objectives are well prioritized, and tasks are well managed.
-Be proactive and create, implement and manage new systems, procedures, and programs to better meet the needs of our community
-Ensure high quality membership and program offerings, new and on-going, by monitoring curriculums, developing leadership and assessing needs of the community/membership through ongoinng survey/evaluation
-With the Association’ Marketing Department, develop a comprehensive marketing calendar for the Branch and insure it is adhered to. Approve all promotional materials.
-Actively recruit members for the Middleboro Branch.
-Ensure that all membership benefits and programs are current and progressive, representative of the Y’s Healthy Living initiative and overall health and wellness programs.
-Oversee the operation of Camp Yomechas and assess the potential to provide not only high-quality camping experiences, but value for membership and program potential.
-Assume association responsibilities in regard to affinity groups and committees to support safety, compliance, and best practices for OCY
2. FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY:
-Prepare, administer and control the budget for the Middleboro Branch with approval of the Vice President or Program Development
-Adhere to all fiscal policies and procedures such as petty cash, front desk procedures, member registration, purchase orders and employee expenses.
-Maintain timely collection and appropriate safekeeping of funds.
-Coordinate Middleboro’s Annual Campaign and related special events
-Ensure that the Branch keeps accurate statistics and records for reporting (Y of USA, Scholarships), budgeting, etc.
3. SUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL:
-Oversee the hiring, training and supervision of Branch personnel. Recommend and Facilitate optimal staffing patterns for fiscal responsibility and consistent service.
-Direct personnel in performance of responsibilities, e.g. yearly goals. Meet with staff as needed.
-Evaluate staff on an annual basis, help them reach their potential and realize professional goals, recommend increases.
-Attend professional training(s) related to position.
4. FACILITY/HOUSEKEEPING RESPONSIBILITY:
-Ensure overall cleanliness of facility through daily inspections of the building.
-Ensure all equipment, mechanical, outside grounds, vehicles, etc. are in working order and being maintained in an adequate manner.
-Review annually, emergency and operations procedures for the Branch.
-Perform drills as appropriate
-Ensure all licenses and permits are current and up-to-date.
-Oversee and prioritize all building improvement projects.
-Develop, coordinate and monitor all outside equipment service contracts.
-Review all incident reports. Ensure follow up.
-Oversee Camp Yomechas property
5. INTERDIVISIONAL/COMMUNITY/VOLUNTEER/RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Provide leadership to the Middleboro Y Board of Governors including scheduling meetings, recruitment of members, facilitation of meetings and agenda preparation –Actively participate in community affairs through civic clubs, community events, relationships with community leaders, Y presence at school committee and selectperson meetings when necessary, coalitions, and through ensuring diversity within the branch board of governors
-Participate in interdivisional committees as assigned. Ensure Old Colony YMCA initiatives, programs and strategies are carried out through the Middleboro branch
-Recruit, develop, and monitor all respective Board members.
-Coordinate and implement annual volunteer recognition event.
-Communicate YMCA policy, mission and objectives to members, employees, lay leaders and community through public appearances, service clubs, etc.
