We are seeking an energetic Sports Director to lead our Youth and Adult Sports and Summer Camp/Programs.
Job Description
The Sports Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for youth and adult sports and camp programs, with a strong focus on program growth, revenue generation, and community impact.
This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving high-quality, mission driven programs that expand participation, increase revenue, and deliver an exceptional experience for all participants.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Business, or related field
- Minimum of 2-3 years of related experience in program management or sports leadership
- Experience with revenue generation and program growth strongly preferred
- Minimum age of 21
- Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work with diverse populations and build inclusive environments
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
Essential Functions
- Program Leadership & Operations
- Direct and supervise all youth and adult sports programs and summer sports/day camps
- Ensures programs are high quality, safe and aligned with YMCA standards and mission
- Develops, implements, and evaluates new and existing programs to meet community needs
- Oversees scheduling, facility usage, and program logistics
- Ensures equipment and facilities are safe, clean and well-maintained
- Program Growth & Revenue Development
- Develops and executes strategies to increase program participation and revenue
- Implements strategies to improve participant retention and value
- Staff Leadership & Development
- Recruits, hires, trains, schedules and supervises staff and volunteers
- Builds a high performing, inclusive and mission-driven team culture
- Ensures proper staff certifications, onboarding and compliance training
- Participant Experience & Engagement
- Ensures a high quality, inclusive, and welcoming experience for all participants and families
- Promotes YMCA character values in all programs and interactions
- Responds to participant concerns and resolves conflict effectively
- Community Engagement & Partnerships
- Builds and maintains relationships with schools and community organizations
- Represents the YMCA in the community to promote programs and mission
- Identifies partnerships that expand reach and increase program participation
- Financial Managment & Administration
- Develops and manages program budgets to meet or exceed financial goals
- Tracks revenue, expenses, and program performance metrics
- Ensures accurate program setup, registration, and reporting using Daxko
- Risk Managment & Compliance
- Ensures all programs comply with YMCA policies
- Maintains accurate incident reports and ensures timely follow-up
- Implements emergency procedures and risk managment protocols
- Ensures staff meet all certifications and background screening requirements

Required Certifications
- CPR, First Aid, AED, Bloodborne Pathogens (must be completed within 30 days of hire)
- Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff (must be completed within 30 days of hire)
- Foundations Training (must be completed within 30 days of hire)
- YMCA Team Leader certification (or equivalent)
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Ability to supervise programs in indoor and outdoor environments
- Ability to stand, walk and move for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Frequent use of computer and communication devices
