The Membership Director is a strategic, relationship-driven leader responsible for driving membership growth, engagement, and retention. This role leads the development and execution of a comprehensive membership strategy, ensuring that every individual who walks through our doors feels welcomed, connected, and supported in achieving their goals.
Overseeing the full member journey—from first interaction to long-term engagement—the Membership Director builds and leads a high-performing team committed to delivering exceptional service and fostering meaningful connections. This leader plays a vital role in advancing the YMCA’s mission by helping members achieve their goals, build relationships, and experience a true sense of belonging.
The ideal candidate brings an entrepreneurial mindset, a track record of visionary leadership, and a deep commitment to diversity, inclusion, access, and equity.
The role requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, along with at least five years in membership, sales, customer experience, or a related field. Candidates should have proven leadership skills, a track record of driving growth, and strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational abilities. Experience using CRM systems and data to guide decisions is important, as is a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and a genuine passion for the YMCA’s mission and community impact.
