About the Role
As a Flag Football Coach at Merryhill School, you will support student-athlete development through engaging, safe, and well-structured flag football instruction. This role blends coaching, mentorship, team leadership, and character development to help students strengthen their athletic skills, build confidence, and take pride in representing their school.

In this role, you will lead practices, prepare students for games, and foster a positive team culture rooted in effort, sportsmanship, accountability, and respect. You will help student-athletes develop foundational football skills while encouraging teamwork, resilience, communication, and a healthy approach to competition.

You will also:
  • Lead practices focused on flag football fundamentals, including passing, catching, route running, defensive positioning, flag pulling, spacing, and game awareness
  • Teach team strategy, game rules, offensive and defensive concepts, communication, and situational decision-making
  • Prepare students for games through skill development, conditioning, drills, and team-building activities

Frequently changes body position from kneeling to sitting or kneeling to standing, to assess athletes at practice or game venues. Frequently demonstrates proper use of all equipment. Occasionally provides steadying or assistance to athletes in training room, on game or practice field, while standing or walking. Occasionally lifts/adjusts athletes positioned on tables, ground, or spine boards. Fine Motor Coordination: Frequently uses computer or writes to document patient care/treatment. Frequently uses fine motor skills during evaluation and treatment (e.g., resistance exercises, palpation of muscle function, deep muscle massage, or goniometric measurements to assess patient function.) Verbal Expression: Frequently presents treatment verbally for evaluation and treatment tasks. Presents information verbally to other professionals in formal and informal meetings, and in telephone consultations. Hearing: Relies upon hearing to discern speech and voice impairments, and to determine adequacy of spoken language and cognitive responses during evaluation and treatment activities. Hearing also involved in receiving verbal information from others. Vision: Frequently observes patient visually to assess movements, adequacy of gestures. Frequently must read reports and other written materials from others or on a computer. Environmental Factors: The practice of athletic training involves occasional risk of infection (e.g., MRSA, hepatitis, other blood-borne pathogens) which requires the use of safety precautions such as surgical masks, gowns, gloves and special hand-washing procedures. Materials and treatment surfaces may also require special handling. This position may work indoors or outdoors during inclement weather that may include, hot, cold, rain, snow or sleet. This position is classified "at risk" for possible occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens (HBV, HIV, etc.)

Adjunct Faculty - Physical Education (Yoga) Priority Application Date: June 5, 2026 (open until filled) Anticipated Start Date: August 24, 2026 POSITION DESCRIPTION Taft College is seeking a pool of qualified candidates with demonstrated instructional skills to join an outstanding team of faculty and staff to provide high quality programs and services for our students. Teaching assignments may be temporary, part-time and/or on-call and may be immediate or as needed (as specified in Education Code 8748.25). We are seeking lecturers who have the ability to teach in the above area for inclusion in the Physical Education Adjunct Pool to teach Yoga in the Fall 2026 semester and beyond. Note: Taft College Physical Education (Yoga) Course(s) for this position are going to be offered in-person (on campus) or online. Adjunct teaching opportunities may include teaching day or evening courses. QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Master's in physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education; OR Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration or physical therapy; OR An Equivalency Determination may be submitted along with all application materials to be considered for this position if you do not meet the stated minimum qualifications.
