About the Role
We’re hiring a Fitness Coach / Personal Trainer to lead small-group (up to 4) and private training sessions at Fitness & Fuel.
This is a coaching role for someone who wants to:
-
Work deeply with real people (not just run workouts)
-
Build confidence in beginners and intimidated gym-goers
-
Develop as a long-term coach, not just fill sessions
You’ll coach within a structured system designed to help people who don’t feel comfortable in traditional gym environments learn how to train safely, consistently, and confidently.
Who We Are
Fitness & Fuel is a boutique training studio in Brighton, MA working with 140+ active members.
We specialize in helping adults who:
-
Feel out of place in large gyms
-
Need structure, coaching, and accountability
-
Want to build confidence as much as fitness
Our environment is intentionally different:
-
Small group training (max 4 clients)
-
Strong community culture
-
Emphasis on progress over aesthetics
-
Coaches who actually coach—not just supervise workouts
We care more about how someone moves, feels, and shows up than how they look.
What You’ll Do
-
Coach small group and private sessions
-
Deliver structured training programs
-
Adjust workouts based on client level system
-
Build relationships with members over time
-
Communicate consistently with clients and team
-
Contribute to team meetings + development
What We’re Looking For
We are not looking for general gym floor trainers.
We are looking for coaches who:
-
Have 2+ years coaching experience (groups or 1:1)
-
Hold a recognized certification (NASM, NSCA-CSCS, CFSC, RKC, etc.)
-
Can simplify movement and build confidence in beginners
-
Are excellent communicators (this is critical)
-
Care about coaching quality, not just programming workouts
-
Show up consistently and professionally
Weekend + early morning/evening availability required.
This Is NOT a Fit If You:
-
Prefer large group classes with minimal coaching interaction
-
Are focused primarily on athletic/performance training populations
-
Want a passive “run sessions and leave” role
-
Struggle communicating clearly with beginners
Compensation & Growth
-
$20–$75/hr based on role and experience
-
401(k) with match
-
Continuing education stipend
-
Leadership opportunities
-
Long-term growth within the company
We invest heavily in coaches who invest in the role.
Our Values
-
People come before profit
-
We get 1% better every day
-
Coaching is a skill that must be practiced and developed
-
Long-term relationships matter more than short-term performance
